inp.polri.go.id - Denpasar. Security Maintenance Agency of Indonesia National Police deployed a robotic diver to find Yunicee Passenger Motor Ship (KMP). This ship sank in Bali Strait on Tuesday (06/29/21).
"We will immediately send a team from the Directorate of Water Police of Security Maintenance Agency of Indonesia National Police with equipment, including robotic divers to determine or find where the position of the sinking ship," Head of Security Maintenance Agency of Indonesia National, Police Commissioner-General Arief Sulisyanto said, Wednesday (06/30/21).
The Three-Star General said the hull was no longer at the starting point of the sinking. Instead, the ship is thought to have been carried away by strong currents in Bali Strait. Once found, the team will return to look for victims who may be under the ship.
"According to information, it has been carried away by the current, so when we know its position, we can carry out an intensive search again for the victim, whether the victim is still under the ship so later evacuation efforts can be carried out," Police Commissioner-General explained.
The position of the ship has not yet been found. However, some of the ship's luggage or passengers were found 4 miles from the original location of the sinking point. Head of Security Maintenance of Indonesia National Police hopes the ship can be found soon.
"When the position of the ship is known, divers from Indonesia National Police and National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) will be deployed to search the ship, whether there are victims trapped in the ship or not," the 1987 Indonesia Armed Forces Academy graduate said.
