Police Destroys Seven Illegal Gold Mining Rafts in Bungo, Jambi

inp.polri.go.id - Jambi. The Muara Bungo Sub-regional Police destroyed seven illegal gold mining rafts in Sungai Buluh and Tanjung Menanti, Rimbo Tengah District, Bungo Regency, Jambi Province.

"We are taking this firm step to break the chain of illegal mining activities that are very harmful to the environment and threaten the river ecosystem," said Bungo Sub-regional Police Chief, Superintendent Natalena Eko Cahyono in Bungo, Friday (5/23/2025).

He said that in this operation his party found seven illegal gold mining rafts at the location.

Five rafts were damaged and two were destroyed by burning. In addition to the rafts, other evidence that was confiscated included nine motorbikes belonging to mining workers, 11 jerry cans filled with diesel, and a set of gold melting tools.

Eko emphasized that raids like this will be carried out continuously without discrimination and that illegal gold mining rafts law enforcement will continue and be ongoing throughout Bungo Regency.

The police also issued an ultimatum to all illegal gold mining rafts perpetrators to immediately stop these illegal activities.

His party will distribute an official letter to sub-district heads and village heads to prohibit illegal gold mining rafts activities including the use of heavy equipment.
