inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Vice Chairman of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) Edhie Baskoro Yudhoyono (Ibas) said that Indonesia is ready to play an active role as a main partner in realizing a new world order, not only as a trading partner, but as an equal power ready to build a fair, inclusive, and sustainable global future.

"Indonesia is ready, not as a passive observer, but as a principled partner in peace, prosperity, and policy," said Ibas, quoted by Antaranews, Jakarta, Friday (5/23/2025).

This was conveyed by Ibas at the "US-Indonesia Economic Security Roundtable (Global Policy and Strategy Initiative)" event at the Annenberg Conference Room, Stanford University, Palo Alto, United States (5/20/2025).

At the beginning of his presentation, Ibas highlighted the importance of welcoming China's rise positively, as an opportunity to strengthen peace and create shared prosperity.

"We know that Indonesia and the United States have a strategic partnership in almost all fields. Currently, Indonesia is seeking a balance of power. The rise of China will bring peace, solutions, and prosperity, as the United States has done with us (Indonesia)," he said.

Edhie Baskoro then explained how the good relations between Indonesia and America have been reflected in various strategic cooperations.

"From Jakarta to Washington, from rice fields in Central Java to data centers in Silicon Valley. We are bound not only by trade, strategic partnerships, and people-to-people relations, but also by mutual trust," he said.

Ibas conveyed the idea that economic security is no longer about numbers, but narratives. Indonesia is transforming from dependence to dignity.

“Economic security is now no longer just about numbers, but about narratives. It is a story of countries choosing cooperation over confrontation. It is a journey from dependence to dignity.”

He then underlined how geoeconomics has now become the new face of geopolitics.

“Technology is weaponized. Supply chains are politicized, and the energy transition is uneven. What we want is an opportunity to build a new balance,” said Ibas

Therefore, on this occasion Ibas proposed the Strategic Trinity for security, sustainability, and sustainable inclusive prosperity.

“We have a resilient supply chain; sovereign digital governance; green industrial diplomacy,” he said.

At the end of his presentation, Ibas invited all parties not to focus only on competition but to co-design a new world order. He emphasized Indonesia’s readiness to take an active role as the architect of a new world order.
