"From all the reports that we gathered, we have named a total of 959 suspects," explained the Head of the Criminal Investigation Agency of Indonesian National Police (INP) Commissioner General Syahardiantono in a press conference, on Wednesday (9/24/2025).
Of that number, 664 people are adults with 295 of them are children.
He emphasized that the suspects were charged with different articles according to their roles, starting from Article 160 and Article 161 of the Criminal Code on incitement. Then, Article 170 on collective destruction.
Then, also the charge of Article 187 of the Criminal Code on arson. In addition, some were charged under Articles 212, 213, and 214 concerning resisting authorized officers with violence.
Furthermore, Article 351 concerns assault. In relation to the looting, the suspect was charged under Articles 362, 363, and 366 concerning theft and theft with violence.
On the other hand, several suspects were also charged with Article 406 concerning damage to property was also applied. Emergency Law Number 12 concerning the possession of sharp weapons, including Molotov cocktails and firecrackers, was used for anarchic acts.
"And lastly Article 29 paragraph 2 of the ITE Law concerns hate speech based on ethnicity, religion, race, and intergroup relations, and Article 32 paragraph 1 of the ITE Law concerns electronic data manipulation," said Syahar.
