inp.polri.go.id - Bandung. The West Java Regional Police are working to repatriate Reni Rahmawati who was a victim of alleged human trafficking in Guangzhou, China.

The Head of Public Relations of the West Java Regional Police, Senior Superintendent Hendra Rochmawan, stated that the victim allegedly experienced various forms of sexual violence while abroad.

"We are currently making efforts to help repatriate Reni and uncover the case allegedly carried out by a human trafficking syndicate," said the Head of Public Relations on Wednesday (9/24/2025).

Hendra explained that the West Java Regional Police are currently working with a number of related agencies, including ministries and international institutions, to ensure the protection of the victim and take firm action against the perpetrators.

"This case is of serious concern to us as it involves the dignity and safety of Indonesian citizens abroad. We will not remain silent, we are coordinating with relevant parties to ensure the victim receives protection," said Hendra.

He explained that the case began in April 2025 when Reni Rahmawati met two men with the initials Y and JA through social media. The two then offered her a job as a domestic helper in China with a salary of IDR 15 million to IDR 30 million per month.

The victim, who was interested in the offer, was then facilitated to get a passport in Bogor. However, after that, Reni was instead taken in and held captive in a house owned by someone with the initials A.

Under these conditions, Y and JA then contacted a man with the initials L in Jakarta, who was asked to find a foreign national to marry Reni.

Reni was finally married in a secret marriage to a man in China via video phone call. Not long after that, the victim was sent to China and never returned to Indonesia.

The family, feeling lost, then reported this case to the police in September 2025.
