Police Evacuates People from Rising Water Level in Kampung Melayu

inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Search and Rescue (SAR) Team of Metro Jaya Regional Police evacuate a toddler using a bucket during a flood disaster in Kebon Pala, Kampung Melayu, East Jakarta. At that location, the flood water discharge reached 170 cm.

The evacuation was seen being carried out using a fairly large bucket. The rescue team member pushed the toddler on the bucket in the middle of the rising flood water.

Head of Public Relations of Metro Jaya Regional Police, Senior Superintendent Ade Ary said that this patrol was to ensure the safety of the people. He said that this patrol was also to speed up the evacuation.

"Although the current status is still at alert level 2, vigilance remains a priority. SAR patrols aim to ensure the safety of people, anticipate potential dangers, and accelerate the response if the situation escalates," explained Senior Superintendent Ade Ary to reporters, quoted Monday (7/7/2025).

The evacuation was carried out under the leadership of Second Brigadier Tommy Brayen, with three personnel accompanying him since morning. The focus of monitoring was carried out in a narrow alley that was at risk of being difficult to reach.

According to him, the rescue team has evacuated 43 people in Kebon Pala who were affected by the flood. The patrol reported that 43 people had been evacuated, including eight elderly people, nine children, 23 adults, and three toddlers. There were no victims of illness or death in the flood disaster.
