inp.polri.go.id - Wamena. The Jayawijaya Sub-regional Police in Papua Mountains Province hopes that the demonstration by a joint student group in the Papua Mountains Province on Tuesday (9/2/2025) will proceed peacefully so that public security and order can be maintained.

Thousands of students today held a demonstration at the office of the Governor of the Papua Mountains, the Jayawijaya Regency People's Representative Council (DPRK) and the Jayawijaya Regent's Office.

Jayawijaya Vice Sub-regional Police Chief, Police Assistant Superintendent I Wayan Laba said that any aspirations expressed in public must be in accordance with the rules.

"The rules for expressing aspirations in public are clear, so they must be done properly and wisely so as not to cause panic among the public in general," he said.

According to him, the public order and security situation in Jayawijaya Regency must be maintained well so that all economic, educational and social activities can run smoothly.

"Giving aspirations in public is fine, but they must be conducted appropriately to prevent chaos that could paralyze economic activity. Let's work together to protect this region," he said.

He explained that so far the public order and security situation is still well under control and is expected to remain so until the demonstration ends.
