inp.polri.go.id - Jayapura City. The Jayapura Sub-regional City Police has deployed 700 joint personnel to oversee the demonstrations of Papuan joint student groups.
Jayapura Sub-regional City Police Chief, Superintendent Fredrikus WA Maklarimboen said that his party hoped the demonstration to convey aspirations would proceed safely and orderly, with a commitment from all parties to respect each other.
"We hope that this free expression of aspirations by Papua n student solidarity will proceed safely. Each party has a responsibility to maintain order, as it belongs to all of us," he said.
According to Fredrikus, the police have prepared an adequate number of personnel, both those stationed directly at the location of the demonstration and those on standby at a number of strategic points in the Jayapura area.
"There are 700 personnel, a combination of personnel from the Jayapura Sub-regional Police and the Heram Sector Police, while the total number of troops from the Papua Regional Police is on standby, as many as 9,300," he said.
He explained that his party estimated that the demonstration would last until 13.00 p.m., after which the masses were asked to return peacefully to their respective homes
"We hope that once the students have expressed their aspirations, they can return to their respective homes peacefully without disrupting public safety," he added.
He appealed to all protesters to adhere to the rules, maintain a conducive situation, and avoid provocative actions so that the delivery of aspirations can proceed according to shared expectations.
