inp.polri.go.id - East Kalimantan. The Samboja Sector Police supports the national food security program by assisting farmers during the corn harvest in Sungai Merdeka Village, West Samboja District, on Wednesday (5/6/2026).
In the activity, police personnel came to harvest along with the Plus Maju Farmers Group (Poktan).
The harvest took place on a 0.5-hectare plot of land located at KM 42 of Soekarno-Hatta street. The land, assisted by the police personnel, successfully harvested the Simental Bisi 321 variety of corn kernels, with results deemed quite satisfactory.
Acting Samboja Sector Police Chief, First Police Inspector Iwan Setiawan, stated that the presence of police personnel at the site was not only for security purposes but also as a form of direct support to the farmers.
"Our personnel helped with the harvest process alongside the local residents as a form of cooperation between the police and the farmer group in maintaining food productivity," he said on Wednesday (5/6/2026).
From the harvest, corn production is estimated to reach 1 to 1.5 tons. The entire harvest is planned to be distributed to collectors in the Tenggarong Seberang area for further distribution to various market needs.
The Head of the Maju Plus Farmers Group, Merni Tumanan, and landowner Hariyanto expressed their appreciation for the active support from the police, who continued to assist farmers from planting to harvest.
The event proceeded safely, orderly, and with a spirit of mutual cooperation, demonstrating collaboration in supporting food self-sufficiency in Kutai Kartanegara Regency.
