inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta – The Indonesian National Police (INP) Criminal Investigation Agency confirmed that it will investigate the mastermind behind the riots that broke out in several regions of Indonesia at the end of August 2025. Furthermore, the authorities are also investigating the alleged existence of a party that funded the action.
The Director of General Crimes of INP, Brigadier General Djuhandani Rahardjo Puro, said that his team is providing assistance in the investigation currently being handled by 15 regional police units in various regions.
Djuhandani said that the authorities are also investigating the flow of funds suspected of fueling the riots.
"There are several areas where we found the riots were backed by funds, which are currently still being investigated. We are now looking at where the fund is coming from," said Djuhandani in a press conference on Wednesday (9/24/2025).
To investigate these allegations, INP will coordinate with the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK).
"This verification is through a scientific process. We will continue to coordinate with PPATK regarding the flow of funds and it is currently underway," Djuhandani emphasized.
To date, INP recorded 959 suspects arrested in connection with the riots. Of that number, 664 are adults and 295 are children. Djuhandani confirmed that they were perpetrators of the riots, not demonstrators.
