Inp.polri.go.id - Jayapura. Indonesian National Police (INP)'s Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) team has identified 11 bodies of gold miners killed by an armed criminal group (KKB) in Yahukimo, Papua Mountains.
Brigadier General Faizal Rahmadani, the Head of Damai Cartenz Task Froce, confirmed on Sunday (13/4/2025) that the identifications were conducted at RSUD Dekai Regional Hospital.
The current death toll stands at 12, with one additional victim from Bintang Mountains, according to antaranews.com.
Identified victims were Wawan Tangahu, Suardi Laode, Stenli Humena, Yuda Lesmana, Riki Rahmat, Muhammad Arif, Safaruddin, Abdur Raffi Batu Bara, Stefanus Gisbertus, and Zamroni. The Bintang Mountain victim was identified as Ariston Kamma.
A 12th body was found in Area 33 but is awaiting evacuation due to bad weather. Authorities hope to proceed with retrieval on Monday.
