Inp.polri.go.id - Surabaya. The East Java Regional Police’s Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) team has identified 53 victims from the collapse of Al Khoziny Islamic Boarding School in Sidoarjo.
Two additional bodies were identified on Sunday (12/10/2025), narrowing the number of unidentified remains to 11 body bags.
East Java Police Medical Division Head Senior Superintendent M. Khusnan Marzuki said that the newly identified victims are Ahmad Haikal Fadil Al Fatih (12) from Bangkalan and Syamsul Arifin (18) from Galis, Bangkalan. Identification was confirmed through DNA, medical, and property matching at Bhayangkara Hospital Surabaya.
Chief Khusnan explained that several of the remaining body bags contain incomplete or fragmented remains, making DNA testing the only viable method. The ongoing identification process is being conducted in Jakarta and is expected to take more time due to natural decomposition.
“We hope all victims can soon be identified so that families receive closure,” he said, as quoted by antaranews.com.
