Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian government is reviewing the possibility of using the state budget to fund the construction and renovation of Islamic boarding schools across the country, following the recent deadly collapse of Al Khoziny Islamic Boarding School in Sidoarjo, East Java.
“After the recent incident, one of the emerging ideas is whether the construction of boarding schools could be financed through the APBN,” said State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, who also serves as the Presidential Spokesperson, on Sunday evening (12/10/2025) after accompanying President Prabowo Subianto in a limited cabinet meeting at his Kertanegara residence.
He explained the review covers existing facilities, new construction needs, and safety standards. He added that President Prabowo has instructed the Ministry of Public Works and Housing to inspect boarding school buildings nationwide to ensure structural safety.
“This is the government’s commitment to protect students and strengthen religious education infrastructure,” State Secretary Prasetyo said, as quoted by antaranews.com.
