Police Investigates the Fire at KPUD Office in Yahukimo

Inp.polri.go.id - Yahukimo. The Regional Election Commission Office (KPUD) office in Dekai, Yahukimo Regency, Papua, experienced a fire on Sunday (8/6/23) at 08:48 WIT. The police are currently conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the fire. Police Senior Superintendent Benny Ady Prabowo, the Head of Public Relations of Papua Regional Police, explained that evidence has been secured at the scene, including charred zinc sheets, burnt wood, glass fragments, a scorched iron door, and a burnt lock. "At present, the Yahukimo Sub-Regional Police are conducting further investigation and inquiry to determine the exact cause of the fire and the motives behind this incident," he stated on Sunday (8/6/23). He explained that the initial information came from a member of the Yahukimo Sub-Regional Police who reported the fire incident to the Police Emergency Call Center (SPKT) through a radio communication device. A collaborative team, comprising personnel from the Yahukimo Sub-Regional Police and the Damai Cartenz Task Force, immediately responded to the report. There were no casualties in this fire incident. "As the joint team arrived at the scene, they found the office had already burned down, and the fire had been extinguished. Members of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Yahukimo Sub-Regional Police conducted a thorough crime scene investigation to gather evidence and information related to this event," he explained. He also urged all residents of Yahukimo Regency to remain calm and vigilant, and advised against being swayed by unverified provocations or rumors. "Let us strive to maintain calmness and provide support to the police in uncovering the cause of the fire," he concluded. (my/hn/nm)
