Labuan Bajo Gears Up for 17th AMMTC, INP Ensures Readiness

The Indonesian National Police (INP) has affirmed its readiness to secure the 17th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Transnational Crime (AMMTC) in Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), scheduled from August 19th to 23rd, 2023. During the 17th AMMTC, member countries will discuss strategies to counteract transnational crimes. Brigadier General Ahmad Ramadhan, the Head of Public Affairs of INP Public Relations Division, explained that the event will be attended by 10 ASEAN Ministers, representing Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. Additionally, three Dialogue Partner Countries, namely China, South Korea, and Japan will also be in attendance. Meanwhile, East Timor will join as an observing country. "AMMTC is held annually under a mutual agreement to address urgent and evolving transnational crime issues that require swift responses," he said during a press conference on Monday (8/7/23). He further explained that the discussions will encompass a range of topics, including terrorism, human trafficking, cybercrime, arms smuggling, wildlife and minerals trafficking, drug trafficking, money laundering, international economic crimes, sea piracy, and illegal immigration. "INP will secure the 17th AMMTC international event in Labuan Bajo, spanning a duration of five days," he concluded. (ay/hn/um)
