inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Banten Regional Police is preparing a traffic management scheme by operating three main ports separately to ease traffic congestion during the Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah (2026) exodus.

The Head of the Banten Regional Police Operations Bureau, Senior Superintendent Yofie Girianto, stated that this strategy of dividing port operations is being implemented to prevent vehicle congestion in one location, learning from an evaluation of the previous year's exodus.

"We are preparing a vehicle flow management scheme at three ports. Merak Port is specifically for pedestrians, public transportation, and buses," said Yofie on Tuesday (1/20/2026).

Meanwhile, Yofie continued, Ciwandan Port will focus on serving crossings for travelers using motorcycles and certain public transportation vehicles. Bandar Bakau Jaya Port (BBJ) will be allocated specifically for heavy vehicles and large trucks.

Karoops explained that this policy is part of the Centralized Police Operation "Ketupat Maung-2026," which will run for 13 days, from March 13 to March 25, 2026.

"This operation involves 3,416 joint personnel, consisting of 1,713 personnel from the Banten Regional Police and 1,703 personnel from related agencies," said Yofie.

Based on evaluation data from Operation Ketupat 2025, there has been an 8 percent increase in ship passengers and 12 percent in ship trips. The peak exodus this year is predicted to be dense again, so separating vehicle traffic by type at three ports is considered a crucial step.

In addition to port security, the Banten Regional Police have also established 54 security posts and deployed personnel at five buffer zones and five rest areas to support the smooth flow of traffic to the ports.
