Inp.polri.go.id - Kendari. The Southeast Sulawesi Regional Police are investigating the sharp rise in subsidized LPG 3 kg prices, which have spiked to Rp 50,000–Rp 70,000 per cylinder.

Director of Special Crimes Senior SuperintendentDodi Ruyatman confirmed Monday (25/5/2026) that officers are checking supply chains from agents to official distributors.

“We want to ensure what triggered the price surge that has troubled residents,” he said, as cited by antaranews.com.

Authorities suspect opportunistic practices such as hoarding or distribution manipulation. Chief Dodi warned businesses and agents not to exploit shortages, stressing that violators will face legal consequences.

He also urged residents to remain calm and avoid panic buying, assuring that monitoring and enforcement are being tightened with relevant agencies to stabilize supply.
