Traffic Jam in Tanjung Priok Caused by Container Depots, Not Port Operations
Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Authorities clarified that the severe traffic congestion around Tanjung Priok on Monday (25/5/20260 was not caused by port operations but by container depot activity in Cakung, East Jakarta.
“The congestion did not originate from the port itself,” said Assistant Senior Inspector Ginanjar Tejasasmita, the Head of Traffic Unit at Tanjung Priok Port Police, as cited by antaranews.com.
He explained that traffic jams on Jalan Raya Cilincing affected vehicles exiting the port area.
The Tanjung Priok Port Authority (KSOP) confirmed the disruption stemmed from container depots in Cakung, not from loading or docking activities inside the port.
“Port operations today were normal,” said KSOP Head Captain Heru.
Jakarta’s Transportation Department deployed officers to manage traffic at key points including Jalan Jampea, Yos Sudarso, Pos 9, and several intersections. The congestion stretched from Yos Sudarso to Cilincing, impacting hundreds of vehicles.
