Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) Chairman Erick Thohir has set an ambitious target for the national team to qualify for the 2030 FIFA World Cup after failing to secure a spot in 2026 following defeats to Saudi Arabia and Iraq.
“We apologize and will conduct a full evaluation to build new strategies. Our dream remains to break into FIFA’s top 100, perform well in the 2027 Asian Cup, and reach the 2030 World Cup finals,” he said on Instagram on Wednesday (5/11/2025), as reported by antaranews.com.
Erick, who also serves as the Minister of Youth and Sports, revealed that President Prabowo Subianto has strongly supported the team, urging him to “try again” with a more aggressive development plan.
The 2030 World Cup will mark the tournament’s centenary and will be jointly hosted by Morocco, Portugal, Spain, Uruguay, Argentina, and Paraguay.
