Head of Public Information Bureau of National Police Public Relations Division, Brigadier General. Pol. Rusdi Hartono, said that the whistleblower came from a private employee.
"We have just received one report of an attempt to enter illegally into the company's information system, which reported a private employee," explained Head of Public Information Bureau, Sunday (08/01/2021).
Head of Public Information Bureau has not yet detailed the development of the process of deepening the BRI Life data leak conducted by the National Police, but investigators are still investigating the report.
It is not yet known whether there will be parties who will be asked for clarification regarding the report.
"What is certain is that investigators are still investigating it," he concluded.
Previously, the Director of Special Economic Crimes, Brigadier General Helmy Santika, said that his party received information through the media, currently an investigation is being carried out.
"The source of information can come from anywhere. Including from journalists. Now I got the information from Mr. Joshua just yesterday. We are currently investigating, checking the truth of the information, with all parties. After that, carry out an investigation," explained the One Star General.
The alleged leak of BRI Life customer data emerged when a RaidForums user admitted selling 460 thousand documents collected from 2 million BRI Life customers for US$7,000 or around Rp101 million.
Information about the leaked BRI Life data was uploaded to Alon Gal's Twitter account (@UnderTheBreach) on Tuesday (27/7). In his tweet, my owner said the hacker had data on 2 million BRI Life customers and 463,000 documents valued at 7,000 US dollars.
The existence of this information was followed up by the Criminal Investigation Agency of the Police to carry out an investigation.
