inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The East Jakarta Metro Police Traffic Unit is collaborating with the Transportation Agency to intensify enforcement against drivers who go against the flow of traffic in the area.

"As it happens, we are collaborating with the local Transportation Agency to issue warnings and enforce enforcement against going against the flow of traffic," said Vice Head of the East Jakarta Sub-regional Metro Police Traffic Unit, Police Assistant Superintendent Sunaryo, Wednesday (3/4/2026).

He explained that this measure was taken in response to public complaints and the high potential for accidents caused by drivers recklessly going against the flow of traffic. The collaboration focused on several vulnerable points, one of which was DI Panjaitan street, Jatinegara District.

Sunaryo noted, despite officers being on standby, several people were still found attempting to violate the law. Some of them are suspected of having escaped the police watch and persisted in going against the flow of traffic.

"Earlier, there were still several motorcycles that may have escaped our watch, but we still took action using handheld devices," said Sunaryo.

In addition to enforcement, joint officers are also actively providing education to drivers to comply with traffic regulations. Education is being conducted to raise public awareness that road safety is a shared responsibility.

The police ensured that monitoring and enforcement will continue to be carried out routinely at areas prone to violations. With collaboration between the police and the Transportation Agency, Sunaryo hopes to significantly reduce the number of violations and the risk of accidents resulting from driving against the flow of traffic in East Jakarta.
