inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Police confirmed that the alleged child exploitation in the Blok M area of South Jakarta is being seriously handled by the Cyber Criminal Investigation Directorate, along with the Women and Children Protection Directorate (PPA), and the Jakarta Regional Metropolitan Police. This case previously went viral on social media, discussed by a Japanese citizen.
The Head of Public Relations for the Jakarta Regional Metropolitan Police, Senior Superintendent Budi Hermanto, stated that his office is open to the public with additional information to report immediately.
"We have to maintain safe and comfortable spaces for women and children, especially regarding allegations of child exploitation. The rumors that are circulating now are about a Japanese foreigner being involved with minors which we are still investigating," he explained, as quoted on Tuesday (5/12/2026).
He stated that the public can submit reports directly to police stations or through the 110 hotline service. The police also emphasized that they will not tolerate any form of child exploitation.
Budi expressed concern if the allegations are true, especially if foreign nationals come to Indonesia to seek child prostitution.
"We regret that this is happening. However, the government must intervene to protect women and children in Indonesia. This is especially true in this case, which involves child exploitation," he said.
