inp.polri.go.id - Bali. The Bali Regional Police are still investigating the alleged kidnapping of a Ukrainian citizen, IK (28), in South Kuta, Badung, in the early hours of Sunday (2/15/2026). The report was received by the South Kuta Sub-regional Police after a video of the victim's friend's confession went viral on social media, sparking public concern.
In the video, IK claims to have been the victim of kidnapping, torture, and extortion with a ransom of USD 10 million. Senior Superintendent Ariasandy, Head of Public Relations for the Bali regional Police, stated that the report was received in the middle of the night from the victim's friend.
"It has been reported to the South Kuta Sub-regional Police. The incident was reported in the middle of the night by one of the kidnapped victim's friends," Ariasandy said on Wednesday (2/25/2026).
A joint team from the South Kuta Sub-regional Police, the Denpasar Sub-regional Police, and the Bali Regional Police was deployed to conduct the investigation. Ariasandy explained that various steps have been taken, including data collection and crime scene investigation. Approximately 10 witnesses have been questioned in connection with the alleged kidnapping.
Police also secured several pieces of evidence found at the scene. Based on an examination of travel documents and visas, it was discovered that IK was in Bali on vacation. Ariasandy emphasized that the investigation is still ongoing.
"The police are still reviewing witness statements and gathering additional evidence to solve this case," Ariasandy said. The public is urged to remain calm and refrain from spreading inaccurate information regarding this case.
