inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The East Java Regional Police and the Social Services Agency (Dinsos) are providing psychological support to a minor who was a victim of rape in Sampang Regency. The case is currently being investigated by the local police.
Sampang Sub-regional Police Chief, Superintendent Hartono, stated that the support provided by the East Java Regional Police and the East Java Provincial Government's Social Services Agency was provided because the victim reported being deeply traumatized by the incident.
"Teams from both institutions have visited the victim's home, and she has even undergone two psychiatric examinations as part of her trauma recovery efforts," the Police Chief stated on Tuesday (7/14/2026).
Based on the Sampang Sub-regional Police Criminal Investigation Team's investigation, the alleged sexual violence occurred repeatedly from February to May 2026.
"We suspect the victim was threatened and did not dare report the incident to her family, which is why it took so long for this case to be finally solved," he explained.
Furthermore, Hartono stated that 27 people have been named as suspects in this case. Of these, 13 have been arrested, while 14 remain at large.
"We have coordinated with other police stations in Madura to help expedite the search for other suspects, and the East Java Regional Police have also intervened," he emphasized.
The sexual assault case involving a minor began in February 2026 when the victim was alone on Suhadak street, Sampang City. The victim was then approached by several perpetrators, persuaded, threatened, and forced to comply with their demands.
Police also suspect the victim was plied with alcohol before being sexually assaulted.
According to the police investigation, the alleged crimes occurred in three locations: Panggung Village, Sampang District; Astapah Village, Omben District; and Madupat Village, Camplong District.
In uncovering the case, police arrested seven suspects on Monday (6/30/2026), two suspects on Thursday (7/2/2026), one suspect on Friday (7/3/2026), and two more suspects in subsequent arrests, bringing the total number of suspects apprehended to 12.
Then, on Monday (7/13/2026), police arrested another suspect, bringing the total number of suspects arrested to 13, while 14 others remain at large.
Regarding this incident, Hartono urged parents to improve their supervision of their children and urged the perpetrators who are still at large to immediately surrender to the police.
