Joint investigators from the Metro Jaya Regional Police and the Criminal Investigation Department of the Indonesian National Police (INP) have scheduled the questioning of Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Deputy Chairman Alex Marwata in Jakarta on Thursday (14/12/23) as a witness in an alleged extortion case involving former Agriculture Minister Syahrul Yasin Limpo (SYL). Confirming the scheduled examination, Brigadier General Ahmad Ramadhan, Head of the INP’s Public Relations Division, stated, "Yes, it is true (Alex Marwata was examined) as a witness." He further explained that the examination of Alex Marwata was conducted at the request of inactive KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri, who is a suspect in the case. Currently, it's unclear if Alex Marwata will adhere to the investigators' summons, while the KPK concurrently faces a pre-trial hearing initiated by Firli Bahuri at the South Jakarta District Court.
