inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Tanah Laut (Tala) Sub-regional Police, successfully uncovered 14 methamphetamine cases during Ramadan, from February 1 to March 7, 2026.
This effort was realized through a series of case disclosures followed by the destruction of evidence, as part of a strategy to suppress both drug distribution and the illicit drug demand in the area.
The Tala Sub-regional Police Chief, Superintendent Ricky Boy Siallagan, stated that the case disclosures were not only focused on the number of cases, but also the social impacts prevented.
"These disclosures are not just numbers, but a concrete form of saving the community from the dangers of narcotics," said Ricky on Wednesday (3/18/2026).
He explained that from February 1 to March 7, 2026, they have successfully uncovered 14 cases with a total of 20 suspects.
The seized evidence included 656.59 grams of methamphetamine, IDR 12 million in cash, one car, and eight motorcycles suspected of being linked to drug trafficking activities.
The Head of the Tala Sub-regional Police Drugs Investigation Unit, First Police Inspector M Firmansyah Baso, emphasized that enforcement during Ramadan was focused on minimizing the impact of drug abuse in the community.
"During Ramadan, we uncovered seven cases with 10 suspects," explained the Head of the Narcotics Investigation Unit. He revealed that from these uncoverings, the total amount of methamphetamine seized reached 594.84 grams, with significant potential for abuse.
"Assuming 0.20 grams per person, approximately 16,250 lives could be saved from drug abuse," he continued.
Beyond the social impact, the economic value of the evidence, which reached approximately IDR 820 million, demonstrates the significant potential losses prevented.
The destruction of 648.77 grams of methamphetamine underscores the police's commitment to ensuring that the evidence does not re-circulate into the community.
