inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno considers the safety of tourists is the number one priority of Indonesian tourism.
The statement came following the death of a Chinese tourist in one of the hotels in Batam City.
“We will deploy our team to guarantee the security and safety aspect as it is our main priority,” said Minister Sandiaga on Monday (8/5/2024).
He says that the Chinese woman was found dead on Saturday (8/3/2024). According to the local police statement, the foreigner passed away after jumping from floor six of the hotel.
“We are very sorry for the incident involving the Chinese woman,” Sandiaga said.
According to him, mitigation efforts must be conducted by building a communication with related stakeholders. This step will prevent similar accidents from reoccurring.
Sandiaga says that after the Covid-19 pandemic, the creative economy sector continued to grow to 1,400 trillion or eight percent of Indonesian GDP. The sector also continues to develop and will open 25 million job opportunities.
