inp.polri.go.id – Two state institutions, the Police and Customs and Excise, have taken a bold and forward step in dealing with various transnational crimes. For the first time, the two agreed to a cooperation agreement (PKS), to strengthen coordination in preventing transnational crimes, especially the circulation of illicit or illegal goods and drugs. The PKS itself was signed by the Head of Criminal Investigation Agency (Kabareskrim), Commissioner Agus Andrianto and the Director General of Customs and Excise, Askolani at the Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim) of the National Police (Polri) Headquarters, last Wednesday, April 27. Of course, the steps of these two institutions should be appreciated. Because with the existence of PKS, both institutions had reduced sectoral egos, open shared data and synchronize their activities and steps. One of the initial targets of this PKS was how they would secure government regulations that prohibit the export of cooking oil. This is to secure the supply of cooking oil in the country. According to a communication expert, Rahmat Edi Irawan, harmonizing a common message for the two major institutions is certainly not an easy job. "I hope there will be no different policies from the two institutions after the signing of PKS. They need to speak in the same tone and rhythm, so that the people will not confused because of conflicting messages between the two institutions," said the Lecturer in Communication Studies at Binus University, Jakarta. According to Rahmat, if these two institutions work closely, the results will be extraordinary. Such as preventing the smuggling of tons of narcotics from international networks through Pangandaran beach.
