Prabowo and Political Parties Agrees to Abolish Allowances for DPR Members

inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, in a joint statement with the chairmen of political parties in parliament, agreed to abolish the allowances for members of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) and implement a moratorium on overseas working visits.

This was conveyed by the Head of State at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Sunday (8/31/2025), in response to public aspirations regarding the dynamics of demonstrations in various regions.

"Several DPR policies have been agreed to be revoked, including the amount of allowances for DPR members and the moratorium on overseas working visits," he said.

In his official statement, the President emphasized that DPR will soon open a space for direct dialogue with the public.

"I will also ask the leadership of DPR to immediately invite community leaders, student leaders, and groups wishing to express their aspirations so they can be received well and engage in direct dialogue," he said.

The Head of State added that other proposals from the public would also be followed up through a delegation mechanism received directly by the Indonesian House of Representatives.

"Other matters will also be followed up through a delegation to the Indonesian House of Representatives," he said.

Prabowo made the statement accompanied by eight general chairmen of political parties in the DPR, namely MPR Chair Ahmad Muzani, DPR RI Chair Puan Maharani, DPD RI Chair Sultan Najamudin.Jakarta.
