Inp.polri.go.id - Yogyakarta. The Yogyakarta Regional Police Chief Inspector General Anggoro Sukartono said that it is ready to launch a full legal investigation into the death of Amikom University student Rheza Sendy Pratama, who reportedly joined a protest in the city before his passing.
“If the family wishes to pursue legal action over his death, we are prepared to conduct all necessary procedures, from investigation to prosecution,” said Chief Anggoro Sukartono after visiting the victim’s family home in Sleman on Sunday night (31/8/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.
For now, Rheza’s family has chosen to accept his passing and declined the police’s offer of exhumation, he said.
However, Chief Anggoro emphasized that the legal path remains open should the family reconsider. He also urged witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.
Local student groups said Rheza took part in a demonstration on Sunday, with video footage circulating online appearing to show him on a motorcycle near the regional police headquarters.
Amikom University confirmed it is conducting its own inquiry into the case.
