Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (PMK) Muhadjir Effendy has announced that President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo has approved aid for victims of Atypical Progressive Acute Kidney Failure (GGAPA). Minister Muhadjir affirmed the President's decision, stating on Thursday (28/9/23), "The President has greenlit the provision of assistance for those affected." He went on to elaborate that the Ministry of Social Affairs, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and in consultation with the Ministry of Finance, will oversee the distribution of the allocated budget, using data provided by the Ministry of Health as the basis. The gesture of aid and compensation from the government, Minister Muhadjir emphasized, stems from a deep commitment to humanitarian principles and serves as a tangible demonstration of the state's unwavering presence and concern in addressing the GGAPA crisis. In expressing the President's sentiment, he added, "President Jokowi is pleased to extend compensation as a gesture of condolences and support for the survivors." As of September 26, 2023, the Ministry of Health has reported a total of 326 cases of GGAPA, encompassing both those who have triumphed over the condition and those who, sadly, have succumbed. These cases are scattered across 27 provinces, with DKI Jakarta Province registering the highest incidence. Preliminary investigations suggest that the GGAPA cases were likely caused by poisoning from compounds EG (Ethylene Glycol) and DEG (Diethylene Glycol), commonly used as solvents in liquid medications or syrups. Minister Muhadjir made it clear that any legal proceedings will not impede the government's commitment to providing compensation. Meanwhile, the police are swiftly moving forward with the legal process against the industry implicated in the GGAPA case. "Law enforcement must remain steadfast to ensure true justice is served, as this profoundly impacts the lives of many concerning medications," the Minister concluded. (ar/inp/pr/nm)
