Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has confirmed that the government will award bonuses to Indonesian athletes who win medals at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
"Details will be discussed, but there will definitely be bonuses," he said on Friday (9/8/2024), as quoted by antaranews.com.
President Jokowi praised Indonesia’s achievements in securing two gold medals: Veddriq Leonardo in men’s speed climbing and Rizki Juniansyah in the men’s 73 kg weightlifting category.
“I appreciate the achievements. The public is proud of their achievements. The nation values these accomplishments highly,” he said.
Veddriq won Indonesia’s first gold in climbing on Thursday, and Rizki followed with a gold in weightlifting on Friday, marking Indonesia’s first gold in this sport.
With their victories, Indonesia has risen to 28th place in the medal standings, with two golds and one bronze.
