Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. President Prabowo Subianto announced a substantial salary increase for Indonesian judges, with junior-level judges receiving up to 280% more than their current earnings.
Speaking at the inauguration of 1,451 new judges at the Supreme Court in Jakarta on Thursday (12/6/2025), he said that the increase is intended to improve judicial welfare and enhance the integrity of Indonesia’s legal system.
“I declare today that judges’ salaries will be increased in the interest of their welfare,” said President Prabowo, receiving enthusiastic applause from the audience, as reported by antaranews.com.
The president emphasized the importance of an impartial and incorruptible judiciary, declaring his readiness to reallocate the state budget—including reducing the military and police budgets—if necessary to support judges’ salaries.
“There is no point in having a strong police force and military if corrupt individuals can walk free once they reach the courtroom,” President Prabowo said, addressing the Chief of Police and the Armed Forces Commander.
He stressed that Indonesia needs judges who are objective, resolute, and immune to bribes from corrupt actors seeking to evade justice.
