Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. President Prabowo Subianto has declared 18 August 2025, as an additional national holiday to allow citizens more time to celebrate Indonesia’s 80th Independence Day.
“There are many gifts this Independence Month. The government will designate Monday, 18 August 18, the day after the national ceremony and people’s carnival as a public holiday,” said Deputy State Secretary Juri Ardiantoro during a press briefing at the Presidential Office in Jakarta on Friday (1/8/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.
The holiday aims to provide communities across Indonesia with time and space to organize local celebrations such as traditional games, parades, and public gatherings. Juri emphasized that this initiative is intended to foster unity, optimism, and creative expression.
President Prabowo also urged all levels of government, schools, universities, state-owned enterprises, and the private sector to join the nationwide celebration by displaying the national flag and decorations.
