Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. President Prabowo Subianto dismissed international criticism on Friday (13/2/2026) regarding the involvement of the Indonesian Military (TNI) and the Indonesian National Police (INP) in food self-sufficiency programs, calling them "people's institutions" dedicated to the nation's survival.
Speaking at the inauguration of 1,072 National Nutrition Service Units (SPPG) and 18 food security warehouses in Jakarta, the President responded to foreign media editorials questioning the use of security forces for agricultural production.
"Foreign media criticize us, saying this contradicts their free-market theories. But these are the people's soldiers and the people's police; the suffering of the people is their suffering," President Prabowo said, as cited by antaranews.com.
The President praised the INP for establishing logistics hubs and kitchens for the "Free Nutritious Meal" program, noting that true security begins with freedom from hunger.
He said that the police's mandate extends beyond maintaining public order to ensuring the welfare of Indonesian families. By leveraging the vast reach of security institutions, the administration aims to accelerate national food resilience and secure the basic needs of citizens in remote regions.
