Inp.polri.go.id - Bogor. President Prabowo Subianto convened a high-level meeting with his economic cabinet at his Hambalang residence on Sunday (15/2/2026) to sharpen Indonesia’s strategy ahead of critical negotiations with the United States.
The President highlighted a nationalist approach, demanding that any future agreements yield immediate, concrete benefits for domestic productivity and the national industrial foundation.
"Every position Indonesia takes in economic negotiations with any country must provide the best possible benefit for our national interest," said Cabinet Secretary Lieutenan Colonel Teddy Indra Wijaya following the private briefing, as quoted by antaranews.com.
The summit, attended by Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto and Minister of Finance Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, focused on the upcoming signing of a Reciprocal Trade Agreement (RTA) with President Donald Trump.
While specific tariff details remain under finalization, Minister Hartarto noted that export tariffs to the US have already dropped significantly from 32 percent to 19 percent. This strategic pivot aims to secure Indonesia’s position within global supply chains while fostering long-term industrial growth.
