Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has issued a high-alert warning for heavy rainfall across Indonesia from 15 to 21 February 2026.
Experts attributed this atmospheric surge to a strengthening Asian Monsoon combined with the Madden-Julian Oscillation, which is accelerating convective cloud growth over western and southern regions. These dynamics are expected to trigger moderate to extremely heavy rain, accompanied by lightning and strong winds.
"The dominance of westerly wind flows from the Asian Monsoon is significantly fueling storm development across the archipelago," said Acting Deputy for Meteorology Andri Ramdhani on Sunday (15/2/2026), as quoted by antaranews.com.
Impacted areas include Jakarta, West Java, and Central Java, with the risk extending to Bali and Nusa Tenggara by late week. Public Health and Public Works departments are urged to mitigate hydrometeorological disaster risks, such as floods and landslides. Residents in high-risk zones, particularly near riverbanks and steep slopes, should monitor real-time weather updates before commuting.
