Inp.polri.go.id - Pangkal Pinang. President Prabowo Subianto has ordered Indonesia’s law enforcement and security agencies to expand a nationwide crackdown on illegal mining operations to safeguard state assets worth trillions of rupiah.
Speaking in Pangkal Pinang, Bangka Belitung, on Monday (6/10/2025), he praised the joint achievements of prosecutors, the military, and maritime authorities in uncovering an illegal tin network.
“This is a proud achievement, so we must continue. The Attorney General, the Indonesian Military, the Customs Office, and the Maritime Security Agency must keep going. We’re saving the nation’s wealth for our people,” President Prabowo said, as quoted by antaranews.com.
The President’s remarks followed the official handover of six confiscated smelters, worth around Rp 6 to7 trillion, to PT Timah Tbk. The assets were seized in a corruption probe involving tin trading that caused an estimated Rp 300 trillion in state losses.
President Prabowo said similar operations will continue nationwide, emphasizing the government’s determination to end smuggling and illegal mining that undermine Indonesia’s economic sovereignty.
