Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. President Prabowo Subianto has ordered a firm crackdown on cartel-like practices within the Hajj management sector, according to Deputy Head of the Hajj Management Agency (BP Haji) Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak.
“I told the President there’s a cartel operating in the Hajj system. He replied, ‘Then uncover it,’” he revealed during a policy forum at the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) on Tuesday (15/7/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.
President Prabowo reportedly stressed the need for an integrity-driven Hajj system, free from corruption and document manipulation.
Dahnil added that some parties have exploited the system by using fake marriage certificates and IDs to circumvent waiting lists, particularly by falsely claiming to be mahram (companions) for Hajj travel.
“These practices persist because of a lack of systemic integrity,” he said, calling for full reform.
