Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Director General of Taxes Bimo Wijayanto confirmed on Tuesday (15/7/2025) that the newly enforced income tax (PPh 22) regulation on online merchants will not raise product prices.
“This is not a new tax. It won’t increase prices,” he said, clarifying that online sellers already factor in taxes when pricing goods.
Under the new Ministry of Finance Regulation No. 37/2025, e-commerce platforms are now responsible for collecting and reporting taxes on behalf of sellers with annual turnover exceeding Rp 500 million.
The tax is set at 0.5% of gross sales, excluding VAT and luxury tax.
“This shift ensures better reconciliation and a fairer playing field between online and offline businesses,” Bimo added, as quoted by antaranews.com.
Exemptions apply to sellers earning under Rp 500 million annually and certain services such as ride-hailing, courier, top-up services, and gold trading.
