Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. President Prabowo Subianto vowed not to retreat in the face of violent demonstrations that have erupted across the country, stressing his commitment to defend the people and uphold national security.
“By God, I will not back down even a single step. I am convinced the people stand with me,” he declared in a press briefing after visiting injured victims of the unrest at the Indonesian National Police (INP) Bhayangkara Hospital in Kramat Jati, East Jakarta, on Monday (1/9/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.
President Prabowo raised his concern over more than 40 people injured, including police officers and civilians. Seventeen remain hospitalized, among them a woman whose motorcycle was seized by rioters.
The president underscored that peaceful demonstrations are protected by law but condemned groups he said had infiltrated protests to incite chaos, including attacks on the national and regional parliaments.
He ordered extraordinary promotions for injured police officers and pledged firm action against those responsible for orchestrating the violence.
