Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. During the Indonesian Military - the Indonesian National Police (INP) Leadership Meeting in Jakarta on Wednesday (28/2/2024), President Joko  "Jokowi" Widodo emphasized the importance of both institutions staying abreast of technological advancements in both conventional and cyber warfare. He cited the escalating use of technology in warfare, which could transform traditional conflicts into remote battles, citing the utilization of unmanned aircraft, commonly known as drones, as an example, antaranews.com reported. While acknowledging the necessity of conventional weaponry like tanks and jet fighters, the president warned against the indiscriminate use of drones due to their precision and advanced target identification capabilities. Referring to the targeted killing of Iranian General Qasem Soleimani in Iraq by a drone controlled remotely from a U.S. base in Qatar, President Jokowi underscored the importance of monitoring technological developments closely. He stressed the urgency for Indonesia to master science and technology within its military domain, urging the military and the police personnel to remain proactive, adaptable, and vigilant. He emphasized the importance of early detection, anticipatory measures, and maintaining professionalism while serving the community. President Jokowi emphasized the need for synergy between both institutions, advocating for horizontal and vertical collaboration to overcome sectoral biases and narrow perspectives.
