The Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman adds the provision of fertilizer to meet the needs of farmers. “We have going around and visited at least 15 provinces throughout Indonesia to directly see the situation. They said that they need more fertilizer,” said Amran quoted from RRI on Wednesday (2/28/2024). Amran stated that the additional provision for fertilizer of this year will be 9.55 million tons. He says that the farmer’s struggle was also conveyed by the President Jokowi during a meeting on Monday (2/26/2024). “Thankfully, our President immediately instruct us to fulfil the wish of our farmer, to give them more fertilizer,” said Amran. Following the instruction from the President, Amran committed to resolve the fertilizer issue in several regions, particularly farmers in remote and mountainous area. Amran said that those particular farmers are having difficulties to get the fertilizer because they are not able to get Kartu Tani or Farmer Card. In resolving the issue, Amran said that he will revoke the current Agriculture Ministry Regulation and will enable farmers to instead use their ID Cards to get the fertilizer. “We change it as farmers wished it,” said Amran.
