inp.polri.go.id - Sanggata. The Community Development Unit of the East Kutai Sub-regional Police is intensifying community visits and education activities as a preventative measure to prevent forest and land fires and the spread of misinformation. 

In these activities, several personnel targeted several locations, including to visit local figures in the area, H. Sapri, on Hidayatullah street in Teluk Lingga Village, and security personnel in the Patka area and the East Kutai Regency Government Office in Bukit Pelangi.

The main focus of these activities is to encourage the public to refrain from clearing land by burning, given the increasing potential for forest and land fires due to climate change and the impact of El Niño, which can trigger a prolonged dry season. 

Furthermore, the public is reminded to be wise in using social media, not to be easily provoked by unverified information, and to refrain from spreading hoaxes and hate speech.

Police personnel also instructed security personnel to always carry out their duties according to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and to avoid any unlawful actions. 

East Kutai Sub-regional Police Chief, Superintendent Fauzan Arianto, emphasized that this educational activity is part of an ongoing prevention strategy to create a safe and conducive environment within the community.

"We continue to promote a preemptive and preventive approach through direct education for the community. Preventing forest and land fires and combating hoaxes requires the active participation of all parties, not just the police," said Fauzan Arianto on Wednesday (4/22/2026).

He emphasized the importance of collective awareness in maintaining the environment and social stability, especially as the dry season approaches and social dynamics within the community. 

Fauzan hopes that through regular visits and educational activities, public awareness will increase in environmental protection and foster shared security.
