inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, Brian Yuliarto, emphasized the strategic role of private universities (PTS) in developing Indonesia’s human resources.

He emphasized that the country's progress is largely determined by the quality of human resources produced by universities as the demographic bonus of Indonesia must be optimally utilized.

“Our country’s progress is highly dependent on human resources, and universities are the backbone in preparing these superior human resources. Currently, we are faced with determining the direction of the demographic bonus, would it be our source of strength or liability,” explained Brian on Monday (6/15/2026).

He explained that the various economic challenges faced by the nation ultimately impact access to higher education. Therefore, improving the quality of education must go hand in hand with strengthening the national economy so that more young people have the opportunity to continue their education to the tertiary level.

Brian emphasized that the current era demands cross-sector collaboration to address various development challenges. Universities cannot operate alone; they need to build synergies with industry, local governments, communities, and other stakeholders to produce innovations that have a real impact on society.

He also welcomed the various breakthroughs made by several private universities, ranging from environmental management, strengthening student entrepreneurship, to developing learning models that adapt to the needs of the times.

"The success of national human resource development truly rests on the dedication of educators who guide students every day throughout the country," said Brian.
