The Damai Cartenz Operation Task Force, in cooperation with the Puncak Regency Police, has launched an investigation into a shooting incident carried out by an armed criminal group (KKB). The incident targeted health centre workers in Jambul village, Beoga Barat district, Puncak regency, Central Papua, on Friday.
Senior Superintendent Ignatius Benny Ady Prabowo, head of the Papua Regional Police Public Relations Department, reported that the shooting began when a witness alerted the Beoga Military District Command 1717-03 about KKB's attack on health centre construction workers at around 2.30 p.m. on Saturday (25 November).
Following the report, joint forces from the Indonesian Military and National Police coordinated with local leaders to evacuate the victims to Milawak village, Beoga district.
"As a result of the incident, three people lost their lives and two others were injured," Chief Benny said.
He further explained that the deceased victims were identified as Suyanto (40), who suffered gunshot wounds to the head and left arm; Satiman (40), who suffered gunshot wounds to the right temple and left arm; and Triyono (50), who suffered gunshot wounds to the right eye and right shoulder.
"The deceased victims have been laid to rest at the Beoga Health Centre and will be evacuated to RSUD Mimika for further treatment," he added.
Meanwhile, Assistant Superintendent I Nyoman Punia, the Puncak Sub-regional Police Chief, confirmed that the Damai Cartenz Operation Task Force 2023, in cooperation with the PuncakĀ Police, had begun investigating the attack.
"We will enforce the law against the attackers responsible for three deaths and two injuries," he said.
