inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Banten Regional Police confirmed that three children who were victims of alleged sexual abuse in Pandeglang Regency received psychological, legal, and protective assistance to support their recovery process.
The Head of Public Relations of the Banten Regional Police, Senior Superintendent Maruli Ahiles Hutapea, stated that in addition to enforcing the law against the perpetrators, the police are also prioritizing the psychological recovery of the victims.
"We continue to coordinate with relevant agencies to ensure that the victims receive comprehensive legal, psychological, and protective assistance to support their recovery process," he emphasized on Wednesday (7/8/2026).
According to Maruli, the protection of women and children is a police priority. Sexual crimes against children are considered a serious violation of children's rights that must be handled thoroughly and sensitively.
The case came to light after the Women and Children's Services Unit (PPA) of the Banten Regional Police received a report from the victim's parents on February 10, 2026.
Based on the investigation, police arrested a man with the initials HK (43), who was named a suspect on May 13, 2026. The suspect allegedly exploited family ties to repeatedly molest the three victims at home between December 2024 and August 2025.
In addition to providing assistance to the victims, investigators also secured several pieces of evidence to strengthen their case in court, including the victims' clothing, bed sheets, and three bundles of "Visum et Repertum" reports from the Bhayangkara Hospital of the Banten Regional Police.
For his actions, the suspect is being charged under Article 414 paragraph (1) letter b or Article 415 letter b of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code (KUHP), which carries a maximum sentence of nine years' imprisonment.
Maruli appealed to the public, especially families and educators, to increase their concern for the condition of children around them in order to prevent similar cases from occurring.
