Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is closely monitoring the security situation and the condition of Indonesian citizens in Iran following widespread public demonstrations across the country.
“The Indonesian Embassy in Tehran confirms that our citizens, particularly in Qom and Isfahan, have reported no significant security threats so far,” the ministry said in a statement on Monday (12/1/2026), as cited by antaranews.com.
The ministry explained that most Indonesians in Iran are students pursuing religious and higher education, mainly in Qom. While the situation remains manageable, the embassy continues to implement contingency measures should conditions deteriorate.
The government has not issued an evacuation order but has urged Indonesians to stay vigilant, avoid protest sites and large gatherings, follow official information channels, and maintain regular contact with the embassy.
Indonesians planning travel to Iran are advised to postpone their trips until security conditions improve. Emergency assistance remains available through the Indonesian Embassy in Tehran and the Directorate for Citizen Protection.
