State-owned railway company PT Kereta Api Indonesia (PT KAI) announced Thursday (19/3/2026) that it will implement a symbolic promotional fare of Rp 1 for all Greater Jakarta LRT routes during the first two days of the 2026 Eid al-Fitr holiday in a bid to to provide affordable urban mobility for residents visiting family or tourist destinations within the capital’s satellite cities.

"Through this Rp 1 R fare policy for the first and second days of Lebaran, KAI wants to provide a pleasant surprise while encouraging more people to utilize safe, comfortable, and integrated public transport," said Bobby Rasyidin, the President Director of PT KAI, as cited by antaranews.com.

This discount is expected to alleviate road congestion by shifting holiday travelers toward rail-based transit. To manage the anticipated surge in ridership, OT KAI has optimized security and medical personnel at all stations and adjusted ticketing gate systems to recognize the symbolic fee. Despite the holiday, the LRT will operate on a weekend schedule with additional operational posts to ensure passenger safety and comfort across the entire network.
