Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Several Indonesian Embassies (KBRI) across the Middle East officially announced the cancellation of their planned 2026 Eid al-Fitr communal prayers and halal bihalal gatherings on Thursday (19/3/2026), citing the volatile regional security situation.
The Indonesian Embassy Muscat in Oman and the Indonesian Embassy in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) were among the first to announce that the traditional celebrations within embassy complexes would be suspended.
"This step was taken as a form of caution and responsibility to prioritize collective security and comfort," said Mohamad Irzan Djohan, the Indonesian Ambassador to Oman, as cited by antaranews.com.
He explained that this decision is a necessary preventive measure to ensure the safety of the Indonesian diaspora amid ongoing regional tensions.
Ambassador Judha Nugraha in Abu Dhabi advised Indonesian citizens to perform their Eid prayers at local mosques near their residences while remaining vigilant and following instructions from local authorities. While the Indonesian Consulate General in Dubai has mirrored these cancellations, other missions in Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, and Iran have yet to issue formal updates regarding their scheduled festivities.
